What does it mean to earn 1% cash back?

When a credit card offers 1% cash back, it means that for every dollar you spend using that credit card, you will receive 1 cents back as a rebate.

For example, if you spend $100 using a credit card that offers 1% cash back, you would receive $1 cash back as a rebate.

Similarly, some credit card offer 1X points per dollar spent. This is usually at least equivalent to 1 percent cash back, since points can be redeemed for cash, for a value of 1 cent per point.

Earning 1% cashback on all purchases is better than earning no cashback at all, and it can add up over time. For example, if you spend $1,000 a month on your credit card, you would earn $10 back in cashback rewards each month with a 1% cashback credit card.

1% for first credit card owners or to build credit

In general, credit card companies offer credit cards for people with a range of credit scores, including those with smaller credit scores or limited credit history. Some credit cards that offer 1% cashback may be designed for people with lower credit scores or those who are looking to build or improve their credit history.

Should I get a 1% cash back credit card?
